English Basic Language Levels
A person who has completed all of their English levels will have received all of the basic English training, from everyday English conversations to grammar knowledge of the language. Especially a person taking A1, A2, B1 and B2 levels is considered to have come a long way in learning English. one . A levels- Basic English User (Beginner and Elementary)
The beginner level, expressed as A1 in the European scale, is the beginner level, the first level of the language. The person has just started learning the language here and often has almost no knowledge of the language.
Reading: Basic phrases, basic sentence patterns, basic words can be read and understood. Many simple text can be read with the help of visuals.
Writing: Person can write simple sentences, basic words and phrases, address information, personal information. Sentences are simple to explain. With the help of a dictionary at this level, one can prepare short notes or letters.
Listening & Comprehension: Listening and comprehension can occur when the other person speaks slowly and clearly. The person can understand simple daily conversations made slowly, and again slowly and simply questions asked. At this level, the terms numbers, hour and time are also among the terms that can be understood.
English level A2 is the upper level of beginner level. At this level, although the person still uses simple sentences, he got closer to the daily speaking language, his dialogues and comprehension level improved a little more.
Reading: At this level, a person can easily read and understand information that requires more detail such as small texts, game rules, drug prescription forms, job offers, by going a little further than basic patterns. It can read very basic personal and family information, such as shopping, local location, employment.
Writing: The person can write down his / her thoughts on all the above information and describe himself / herself and his / her life in more detail. Can write on basic and everyday topics that require simple and direct information exchange.
Listening & Understanding: The person can participate in daily conversations in English in a basic way, express his / her background, environment or wishes and demands. He / she can exchange ideas with his / her friends on a topic he / she is interested in, and can tell a favorite music or movie.
Level B1, which is the third level and is called "intermediate level" in colloquial language, indicates that the English level is intermediate. B1 level can meet all needs of a person during his / her overseas travel, make new friendships, and communicate easily with people on the subjects he has mastered.
Reading: The person can read texts of interest, letters, short official articles, brochures, newspapers and magazines. People at this level can find the specific information they need in long texts, and can read and understand simple instrument manuals.
Writing: People with B1 level can easily write their feelings and thoughts. However, they can write down their dreams, wishes, details of an event they have experienced, notes and thoughts about a problem. They can easily write what they think about a book they read, a TV show or movie they watched.
Listening & Comprehension: Listening and understanding level has reached a serious point at this stage. Even if there are unfamiliar words in a speech that a person is listening to, he can understand the whole speech by guessing these words. They can participate in daily conversations and catch the details by participating in meetings in their professional life. It can be included in seminars, conferences or lectures within the field of expertise. Can deal with all possible situations while traveling an English-speaking area.
Known as the upper intermediate level, B2 is a level that includes fluency and improvisation. At this level, more complex texts and speeches can be explained or understood more easily by the person.
Reading: The person can easily read all texts, books, newspapers and magazines that are of interest. Can read and understand technical articles other than his / her expertise using a dictionary. Reading and understanding the texts is fast. He can produce ideas on the texts he reads and bring different points of view.
Writing: Writing skill has been strengthened. Compile the information obtained from different sources and prepare short presentations. Can produce texts based on cause and effect relationship on any subject in accordance with grammatical rules.
Listening & Comprehension: B2 is seen as the first stage of fluent speaking. People at this level can understand daily conversations in a noisy environment and express themselves comfortably in these environments. People can understand ordinary television and radio broadcasts, and listen comfortably to documentaries, movies, interviews or discussion programs. This level, at which fluent daily conversations can take place with a native English speaker, is a level where people can easily speak English with confidence.
Upper Intermediate (C1)
C1, which is the 5th level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ??(CEFR), which is a definition written for different language levels by the Council of Europe, is the language level where people are now considered to be advanced in everyday speaking language. People who have reached this level can make the speech they want wherever they want without any preparation.
Reading & Writing: Academic and professional correspondence, technical articles can be read and written by people of this level easily. Newspapers, philosophical or scientific books that require depth, well-structured texts can be read.
Listening & Comprehension: People at C1 level can understand different kinds of jokes, including difficult styles such as sarcasm, and can use language flexibly and effectively in different ways, for social, academic and professional purposes.
The 6th and final level, C2 level, is a language in which the person now knows English with all the language rules and integrity and learns English. English is spoken, written and understood as well as a native language. People at the C2 level can express all complex topics as very simple and ordinary topics. People at this level can discuss issues related to science and technology. C2 level people who can use the English language as their mother tongue and have a good command of local speaking accents can easily understand everything they hear and read.
